My Thanksgiving dinner went from a simple 4 people to 8 guests a few days before T-Day and I was scrambling. Mainly because my dining room table sits just six people so just somewhere to park yourself while you were chowing down was going to be a problem. So in the couple days before Thanksgiving I went out and bought a folding table from good ol' Walmart and called in a mah-jor favor to my girl Jodi at Capital Party Rentals. I also went to Wegmans doubled up on the food and bought a bunch of flowers. Thanksgiving was saved and all went well! See below...
I whipped up some pretty fabulous centerpieces if I do say so myself. I used pears, artichokes, mums, hydrangea, and one fake purple peony from Michael's. (Sorry but I needed the color and size)

I made the placecards and attached them to mini artichokes with a couple if pins hidden behind the cardstock.

No event is complete without a signature drink and fun themed snack, right? I scored these recipes from Women's Day Magazine (part of a fun care package from my Aunt Barb). Who knew that herbs in popcorn would be so tasty? And well anything with a cinnamon stick is just a go during this time of year. Try them out for yourselves on Christmas Eve or for a cozy movie night!
Hot & Nutty Whiskey Sours
3/4 cup nut flavored liquor 1 3/4 cup Makers Mark
3/4 cup Simple Syrup 1/4 cup lemon juice
Bring nut flavored liqueur, Makers Mark, simple syrup and lemon juice to a simmer in a saucepan. Divide among four mugs and pour of a cinnamon stick and add a splash of Lemon Italian Soda to taste if its too strong. (I almost knocked out a guest or too with my heavy hand)
Sage Popcorn
Ok first of all...just buy the bag-o-kernels...I know I know I was scared too but honestly they were better than the pre made and more healthy tasting.
1 1/4 cup fresh sage 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup popcorn kernels Extra Virgin Olive Oil for drizzling Sea Salt
Microwave sage on a plate until crispy, about 2 1/2 minutes. In the meantime, heat vegetable oil in deep large pot on high. Add three popcorn kernels and cover. Once kernels have popped add in 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels. Continuously shake pot, covered until all kernels have popped. Takes about 5 minutes.
Transfer popcorn to large bowl, drizzle with olive oil, salt to taste. Break up your crispy sage into small pea sized flakes and toss in with popcorn.
