Roll Out the Red Carpet! The Golden Globe Awards are my favorite to watch because its not as stuffy as the Oscars and not as trendy as the MTV Awards. Its the perfect mix of style and poise but with also being able to feature new options for tablescapes, dresses, jewelry, color stories and food trends. So how do these ideas affect you? Fashion and large scale events like award shows have a trickle down affect to the masses. Let's see what 2011 has in store for us this year....
Bizbash just featured a great article about 2011 predictions. Events In The City was lucky enough to be featured at number six for this prediction “The recession set off a theme revolution of handmade chic: creative props, paper signs, and unique themes reflecting the hosts’ personality.” With that being said, I think we'll see that return to the classic in design and floral too. At the Golden Globes centerpieces made from a few dozen tightly packed roses in a round crystal vase were at each table. What makes this stand out? The roses are from South America and are newly harvested colors of rust, orange and golds
Make this modern and not so traditional by mixing this orange tone with....
Bold Aqua (like one of our fabulous brides is doing at Sunset Crest Manor)
Classic fall color combo of rusty red, crisp golden yellow & chocolate brown
Go regal with all jewel tones in emerald, amythest and blue topaz
There were also some celebs rocking this same color in their dresses this year! Who knew that color would be so flattering?
Celebs at the Golden Globes this year were given Swarovski crystal embellished mini bottles of champagne when they arrived. It may take forever to go this far but do what Events In The City did for a bride's bachelorette party last summer instead; get printable votive labels from Michaels and print fun sayings on them, wrap about the body of the mini bottle, tie a ribbon around the neck and viola!
Have a long haul for your guests from the hotel or ceremony out to your fabulous reception? Greet each guest as they get on your transportation with a personalized mini bottle with a colorful bendy straw!
"Sipping champagne through a straw? Mini bottles of the finest bubbly that come all ready to sip? They're a great way to enjoy Moet, first favored by models backstage at the most haut fashion shows - so they wouldn't smear their lipstick." said BNET.com
Black Swan and its star, Natalie Portman, are going to be huge influences this year in the fashion world. Get on board with ballerina styling...high buns, dramatic eyes, crystals, tulle, rosettes and feathers. Feathers & Rosettes both in centerpieces, bouquets, dresses, jewelry and accents on your dress itself. Tu-tus will not be in but you can definitely bet on pointy shoes (not pointe) having center stage.
Black and Nudes are going to be really hot and this will surely be seen throughout events too. Check out all of these dresses from the red carpet last night. Classic black bridesmaid dresses are back, try playing off varying styles with unique accessories. Next will be Nudes for bridesmaids and bridal across the board. What a great way to compliment skin tones and let your maids' bouquets sing against the shades of butter, peach, cream, ivory and natural!
