Events in the City would like to formally welcome our newest member Ethan James Ritchie! So many of you have been so supportive of Laura and her expanding family we are thrilled to share a little bit about his debut!
Friday afternoon Laura was admitted into the hospital knowing that time was drawing near. Laura and her pregnancy posse ( Stuart - Dad, Barbara- Aunt, Tyler- Best Friend from NY, and myself) filled the room with great anticipation of Ethan's arrival. Through out the day Laura and Ethan had a somewhat slow progression. This time can be difficult for many first time moms as they wait, especially for a PLANNER! :) Laura and her posse took this time as an opportunity to laugh, catch up, tell tales and just be girls ( sorry Stuart). I have to say it was one of the best Friday nights I have had in a long time. The atmosphere in that labor and delivery room was one to be envied. As each nurse or tech entered the room they had the funniest smirk, I think they all felt they had crashed a slumber party rather then a delivery room. Laura as usual looked amazing and impressed me to no end. My dear friend and business partner was so strong, so kind, and just beautiful. After a while the rhythm of the fetal monitors, and blood pressure sleeves became a sound track to the memory we were all making. Around 11:45 the doctor made his way into our sanctuary to check her progression.Truth be known Ethan was just far to cozy where he was :) The decision had been made to book an operation room and set for a C- Section delivery. Just like that it was game time! At 12:30 Laura and Stuart left us and headed down the hall. Barbara, Tyler, and I munched anxiously on M&M's and chatted along trying to pass this last hour before we were going to meet the precious fella we had been waiting for. At 1:45 we heard squeaking wheels make their way down the hall, and with a slight tug on the division curtain there he was! Stuart the beaming proud papa had his son Ethan James weighing in at 7 lbs and 4 oz! There wasn't a dry eye in the room, the posse had turned to a puddle!
Shortly after our leading lady came back to us. I am not sure how she pulls it off, but let me tell you she looked incredible! Anyone who knows Laura well knows that there was no shortage of quick jokes and funny remarks as she began her recovery. The tender moments of a family fusing was beginning. I know that I can speak for Tyler and Barbara, we were so honored to be apart of this moment.
I want to also take this opportunity to say that there was another member of the posse that was ever present. One member that guided, protected, and loved Laura, Stuart, and Ethan. We believe in angels in this crew and Laura's mom was with her every SINGLE step of the way.
Thank you all for joining us in the celebration we are over the moon!!
