It’s been said that what matters most is inside, right? Well with presents, it’s not just what’s inside that counts, but also the personality that each gift shows. To make a gift more unique and special to the person it’s for, it should look present-able from the outside too.

It goes without saying that I LOVE to gift people with a gorgeous prezzie and something that speaks to them, their style and definitely with something unique inside.

Check out this first gift set we handcrafted for a hostess gift this past month. The lovely ladies of EVOKE through a fabulous party for us wedding industry folks and we of course couldn't show us empty handed. Insert fabulous gift for the four ladies of this stellar event planning firm.

I shopped at one of our fav places, Old Lucketts Store, for a set of vintage rocks glasses. From there I was on a roll with all the accouterments to surround these glasses with. Fun matches and beverage napkins, Fun Swizzle Sticks, a coffee table book about wonderful Toasts, Vodka, Pomegranate Mix and a personalized recipe for the first drink for those ladies to cheers with in those fab glasses. All wrapped up in a gold glitter box with a special card we made.

Elan Artists at Halcyon House Event

 Wednesday night Events In The City attended yet another fabulously orchestrated (pun inteded) showcase from Elan Artists at the Halcyon House in Georgetown. A. Dominick Events pulled together a flawless fete with a great turnout for a rainy evening in the city. Frost Lighting brightened the room with a yellow and candlelit glow and of course it was always great to see our buddy Fred Elting representing Frosts' talent. Occasions catered the crowd with for passed snacks and desserts and special drinks to keep the party going. Amaryllis did an amazing job of welcoming the guests and spring with pops of yellow daffodils and  an arrangement to die for in the lobby of all crisp whites including ranuculus, roses, calla lillies, and more! We'd like to thank Atlantic Services Groupfor the valet last night as we all know is so necessary in Georgetown on a rainy night (PS sorry about running over your cone with my G.I.Jane car).  8. Lovely ladies of Amber Karson Events...love seeing a friendly face(s) amongst a sea of fabulous guests.
 9. Laura and Megan flanking a long time pal, Kami Lynch, of the Four Seasons Georgetown. (Fun Fact: Kami and Laura have known each other forever and used to work together 5 years ago at the Hyatt on Capitol Hill....great to catch up!)

10. Favs from The Fairmont which is always nice to see and especially since we'll be working together quite a bit in 2011 and 2012 (Thanks for helping prego down the stairs Bob! Such a gentleman!)

11. Chit Chatting at the bar...baby in tow...damn from the side Laura looks about ready to pop and considering due date is in a week, we would say this is the last networking event for awhile.

12-15. Talent from Elan; A Dancer IN (not on) the bar, The Hudson Project, The Source and Nation belting it out for everyone playing classics to TOP100. Way to get the party going... 
 
And for your viewing pleasure, Megan pointed out the obvious similarities between this owl sculpture and Laura's belly. If you didn't know, the nursey has an owl theme, so this was a fitting exit for an evening out with our other DC cohorts. Hoo-Hoo Halcyon House, thanks for Hosting!

Current Events:This Week 'InTheCity

On Tuesday, February 1st, we met up with Laura Ashbrook of Laura Ashbrook Photography at Trummers on Mainin Clifton, VA. We are planning a creative photoshoot together next month! We are so excited that Trummers is allowing us to feature their amazing venue (formally The Hermitage!) and use their beverage list as our inspiration for this shoot. We are looking forward to working with some of our A-Team vendors on this special project which we hope to get printed by one of our favorite magazines. We don't want to ruin the surprises to come but we'll leave you with this vintage poster of where we are headed....Confused? Just wait... 

 
 
 
On Wednesday, February 2nd the ladies of Events In The City attended The Sparkle Lounge, a networking and mingling event hosted by the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. Originally it was to be held last week, but due to our crazy weather it was rescheduled but you would of never known it due to the huge turnout!
We of course we happy to attend and support of friend Ryan Hayes, of the Ronald Reagan Building (Wish Special Events too).
We we entertained by a fabulous band, amazing food, a gorgeous champagne bar and of course had a chance to catch up with fellow vendors from the DC area. We chatted Aram Taghavi of Bisnow, and he told us about their plans for the Super Schmooze IIIbeing held next week. We said hello to Chris Laich of Chris Laich Music Services, admired the furniture provided by CORT as Dave Fritz admired my pregnant belly, and gave hugs to our friend Heidi Berger of AFR (and yes we are stillglad she's back). Last but not least, what networking event would be complete without having a drink with Ray Bialek, of Bialek's Music? 
The dessert station was suspended in glass and was huge hit with everyone!

Janet Flowers of Janet Flowers Wedding & Event shared some images (taken by Jan Michele Photography) of a recent wedding that incorporated gorgeous winter elements - complete with snow!  Working with the talented team at Events in The City, River Farm was turned into a Winter Wonderland!  Not able to remove artwork on the walls - artwork which did not fit into the design scheme - Events in The City cleverly hid the artwork with chic fabric panels (bottom photo) and, voila!, problem solved!  With the floral designs, Janet captured the feel and look of a winter theme beautifully!  Enjoy the visuals!"

Nordstroms Wedding Suite Launch

On Thursday night, Nordstroms at Tysons Corner had their launch party for their new Wedding Suite! Now your favorite department store, known for its impeccable taste and flawless customer service is featuring designer gowns, chic bridesmaid dresses and on trend accessories to fit anyones taste. Events In The City was personally invited by Christina Christopher, Customer Relationship Manager, to attend and get a personal tour of this new endeavor. 

Christina Christopher and I awaiting the first guests to arrive at the new Wedding Suite. Its located on the third floor, next to Savvy. Walk-ins are welcome, however they suggest appointments are ideal for personalized service! 
Inside the suite is a comfortable lounge area, mirrors and huge dressing rooms! 
Models showcased just some of the dresses available. If you find yourself looking for a gown or reception dress with personality and style, this is the place to go! Milly, BCBG, and Sue Wong are just a few fun designers in the Suite. 
 
Bridesmaid dresses throwing you for a loop?

These dresses will make the process easier. Everyone knows that alterations at Nordstroms are a snap and complimentary to boot! Having everything done in house and with quite a few Wedding Suites in Norstroms sprinkled around the US, even your out of town bridesmaids should be able to purchase their dress with ease. 
Accessories are all the rage! Fabulous shoes, jazzy clutches and sparkly jewelry. Consider outfitting each maid in a different accessory to make their personalities pop down the aisle.

Don't forget that Nordstroms does embroidery too! Need a great bridesmaid gift? What about a chic pashmina with each girl's initial on it? Trying to save money on flowers? How about getting each girl a gorgeous clutch that they will use again from one Nordstroms' top designers and have them carry that down the aisle instead?
