So often when brides are looking to incorporate some additional thought and creativity to their weddings, one of the first places they go to are the guest book. Guest books have come a long way over the years. What used to be a standard in, is sometimes now even gone with-out.
However I like the new takes on guest books that we have been seeing our brides do. Who says it needs to be a white leather book with a silvery pen that doesn't often sit in its holder and certainly doesn't write as smoothly as it should.
This is a very tidy way of keeping your guests kind comments. Taking your every day photo album and fastening mini envelopes in a variety of colors, gives a unique look and something that is easy to look back on and share for years to come
We've done this a few times for client of ours and they have always been a big hit. Want to try it yourself? Go to one of our guilty pleasure locations....Paper Source, and buy yourself a Kolo Book.
They range in colors and size for you to customize and match your event. Then venture to the back of the store and pick out cards and envelopes in a range of sizes and colors. (just make sure they fit!) Glue them with the flaps facing outward. You can stagger them and arrange them differently on every page too!
Allow your guests to put their own mark on your guest book. Both examples are geared for showcasing the guests that attended your special day. These were not meant to be in a box in the closet marked "Wedding Stuff".
This example is for those that aren't afraid to get there hands dirty. Your wedding day signifies the start of a new family. So lets take that metaphor and make it walk the walk. Those present on your wedding promise to support and love you through out your marriage so have them put their stamp on it! Each leaf of your family tree is individual finger prints. I just love that there is no family tree that will look the same, it is as unique as the members of your family.
These puzzle pieces can be cut to make any image you wish! Why not have a puzzle in the shape of your monogram. Just imagine how beautiful that could be captured for all time in a 3-D glass shadow box.
If you know me at all, I get obsessed with something and run with it...typography is one of the latest obsessions. I have recommended this store on Etsy, April Ink, many times to clients who just don't see the point of anyone writing or signing anything at all. This works well as a display on a large plate stand to greet guests at the ceremony or even as they scoop up their placecards. Frame it up at home with your favorite shots from the wedding flanking it.
Lastly, allowing your guests the freedom to express themselves as they wish always works...especially once they've had a few drinks and loosened up! You will look back and laugh at the stories it will recall and smile at the memories instead of just counting the name of guests that racked up on a plain ol' list-o-guests.
