Events In The City had an amazing year with over 40 events, lots of fun new relationships with other wedding professionals and a ton of much appreciated industry recognition.

We'd like to thank everyone again for believing in us and supporting EITC!

Washingtonian Feature of Our Work!

We are so flattered that the Washingtonian Bride and Groom featured one of our favorite couples from this past Fall. Linde and Frank were so special and we are just so happy that they get to share their special day with even MORE people. If you haven't picked up your copy yet, definitely run out at get it! We are also so proud to be chosen as apart of the Washingtonian Bride & Groom's esteemed list of Best Of Wedding Vendors! And for the icing on the cake, highlighted as "Ones To Watch". WOW! Megan and I found out together, in a car, stuck in traffic and were just head over heels with all this news. We were screaming with excitement in true Events In The City fashion!

 Thanks to all of our followers and fans and especially our loyal clients who have allowed us to be apart of their weddings and events.

1.  A badge consisting of stripes meeting at an angle, worn on the sleeve by noncommissioned officers, police officers, etc., as an indication of rank, service, or the like.

 

2.  An ornament in this form, as on a molding.

 

3.  Also called chevron weave . herringbone ( def. 2a )

 

4.  Current obsession of many in the wedding and design world. Accented by the feature on Million Dollar Decorators and Mary McDonalds use of it painted on a floor. Also used in Missoni prints for decades and something I've personally lusted after since being in fashion classes in college. To be fair I own one cardigan and a scarf from my BBF but thats clearly not enough.

Today marks the day of a much anticipated wedding which we have dubed, A Misummers Night Dream. Let this picture serve as a tantilizing teaser for the luscious eye candy to come.

Today's Bride Circa 1987 & 2011

Working in this industry there are the occasional opportunities to help out a friend who is getting hitched. Lucky for me, I have been honored to be asked by highschool classmates, sorority sisters, coworkers, and now a childhood buddy. To be involved in the designing, planning and coordination of their special day has me walking the line between consummate professional and chummy friend; something I think I do very well. Events In The City has the esteemed honor of finally executing one of the most most beautiful weddings I've ever done.....the wedding of Katie Donovan and Chris Connors on Saturday May 28th, 2011 at Lansdowne(drool worthy pictures and details to follow after this weekend fo' shizzle)

Katie's father, Jim Donovan, and my late mom worked together for years and we were very close family friends. So close that The Donovan family was literally present when I was born and we spent many a holiday and weekend bbq together. Needless to say they moved to Dallas, we stayed here and life took place. Fast forward approximately 15 years since our last meeting and Katie comes back into my life like a breathe of fresh air, now living back here in Arlington and conveniently with a wedding to plan. With nine months to go her parents, her fiance Chris and I tightened up and designed a wedding to top all weddings. To say I am excited to finally see and share this very special day with everyone is just touching the surface. But more importantly it was a fabulous chance for us to rekindle the friendship that we started in our childhood. 

Katie and I at one of my childhood homes...around 1987 if my calculations are correct. Which are purely based on my matching mom-jean cuffs and suspenders, in conjunctionwith Katie's gynormous bow and Osh'Kosh overalls.

  
 Katie and I at her out of towners dinner party on The Odyssey dinner cruise on Thursday night. She lost the bow and I am obviously missing the triangle of bangs but still the same two silly girls at heart.

 

On a side note, I would like to thank one of the most amazing mother of the bride's I have ever dealt with, Jane Donovan. If I didn't know her since I was born (really) I would say she was too good to be true. Not only am I in awe of the generosity they have towards their guests this weekend but also the true love both her and Mr. Donovan have for their daughter. I am SO thrilled to have them back in my life....and I know this weekend is just the beginning of a wonderful marriage, a renewed special friendship and something very beautiful for all. Thanks Donovan's for having me along for the ride!

Remembering Mom(s Day)

On this very special day when we thank mom for being who they are, what they do and everything in between.....we would like to take a moment to truly remember our mom's whom we have both lost in the last few years to cancer. As we are constantly reminded of how these two special women, Susan and Christine, molded us into the strong ladies we are today. However it takes a heavy toll on our hearts to not have them here in person to tell them once again how appreciated they are.

We attribute much of our success in life to their love, support, wit, charisma and overall "go get em girl" attitude. Not a day or week goes by that we don't reference a story or recall a moment where our moms "taught em who was boss" or play the "What Would Mom Do" game. (WWMD bracelets sold separately) 

Now that we are both mom's ourselves I think this holiday brings feelings of love and unfortunately loss as well. But most of all its a healthy reminder that you only have one mom in the world and she is immaculate & irreplaceable.

We miss you and love you Susan and Christine.
